8 British Muslims Cycling From London To Medina For Hajj

Hajj is an important and fundamental duty in Islam. It is obligatory for every able Muslim to perform Hajj at least once in his/her life span. Millions of Muslims embarks their holy journey to perform this obligatory ritual of Islam in the month of Dhul Hijjah.image

Muslims according to their capacity & distance choose conveyance from their home to Mecca. Some choose to fly in first class, some in economy class, some people come through waterways while some undertake the journey in their car.

But, today we are going to tell you about 8 Muslims who are travelling from London to Medina on bicycles to perform Hajj.

 

A group of 8 men from London started their journey to Medina through bicycle on 7 June this year and named their journey “Tour De Hajj”.

Under this journey they will travel 4000 miles, 17 countries and will take 60 days to reach their holy destination with a break to fly Egypt by skipping the war torn Syria & Iraq. At the same time along with the journey they are doing charity work also.

They aim to raise $6,28,600 in donation to build Wells, Schools and Mosques in the villages of Pakistan, Sri Lanka and South Africa through the ride.

The “Tour De Hajj” team has completed more than half of the journey by travelling through UK, France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Greece & Turkey.

This journey garnered a huge attraction from national as well as international media and they are getting full media coverage.

 

While the riders arrived in Turkey, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed them at his presidential office in Dolmabahce, Istanbul.

During an Interview, Waseem (One among the Hajj Riders) said that, “We want to create a legacy and show people what’s possible. For every pedal pedaled, the riders and donors will be rewarded, and our sins washed away.”

Zain Lambat, another Tour De Hajj rider, said this is his first time making a pilgrimage, and added: “This journey is important in many ways. We’re all on the road for our faith. We meet great people along the road and we have great stories.

Their journey is indeed fabulous and adventurous, they are on such a journey that will bring them closer to Allah and will increase their rewards. Moreover, the charity work is also appreciable and will help those poor people who are not enough fortunate to live a decent life.

However, there are many stories of people taking Hajj pilgrimage journey on foot or through bicycle.

A 47-year-old Bosnian Muslim, Senad Hadzic, reached the holy city of Mecca on foot to perform Hajj.

 

In 2017, An Indonesian Muslim walked over 9000 kilometers to perform the Hajj.

Indeed, these people are inspiration for all Muslims around the world, with their courage and devotion to Allah they are writing history.
